Horizon makes shipping boxes for live birds. That's it. That's
all we do, but we do it great! Horizon was solely responsible for getting the
USPS to start mailing live birds back in 1989. Anything was better than air
cargo, and cheaper! We also helped pushed FedEx to accept live birds for the
USPS in late 2006 just before the USPS was about to turn it off, helping
hundreds of small businesses stay in business. We remain dedicated to being your
voice in mailing live birds thru the USPS.

FedEx/UPS/DHL Rules & Rates
Notice: The USPS
has updated the rules and regulations for mailing all birds thru Express
Mail in Environmentally-Secure, filtered containers to now include
chickens. Horizon has been producing USPS approved Environmentally-Secure,
filtered containers for birds since 1990, and has been producing chicken
shippers without filters, aka PetPorts, since 1997.
The only thing that has changed for us is that they now all must
include the filters.

Bird Shippers of America - Who Are We?
The Constitution and the statutes enacted by our Congress
guarantee and are designed to insure that postal patrons receive
“prompt, reliable, and efficient” postal service “to all
communities.” In 2002, the Bird Shippers of America, a group of
business, individuals, and allied industry was formed. The primary
purpose of this organization would be to protect the right to ship
live birds, of various types, through the United States Postal
Service. Our membership provides the revenue to hire a lobbyist in
Washington, D.C. who actively leads us through the complicated
scheme of our country’s politics in trying to succeed in our
mission.
